Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Pawleys Island vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Pawleys Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Wyndham SeaWatch
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Pawleys Island attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
