Tips to get the best Pawleys Island rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Pawleys Island vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Pawleys Island visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the right Pawleys Island rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Wyndham SeaWatch
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
